After learning his crying testimony was the butt of a LeBron James joke, Kyle Rittenhouse has one thing to say to the basketball player: “Fuck you.”
The Kenosha shooter recently appeared on The Blaze’s “You Are Here” podcast, where he discussed his homicide trial and its ensuing verdict. Amid the conversation, he shared his thoughts on the Lakers star, who jokingly questioned the tears he shed when he took the stand.
“I was a Lakers fan too before he said that,” he said. “I was really pissed off when he said that, because I liked LeBron, and then I’m like, ‘You know what? Fuck you LeBron.'”
Rittenhouse was seemingly referencing James’ humorous reaction to his testimony. After clips of his emotional breakdown circulated the internet, the baller took to social media and expressed his belief that Rittenhouse faked his tears. “What tears?????” he tweeted. “I didn’t see one. Man knock it off! That boy ate some lemon heads before walking into court.”
The comment preceded the jury’s decision to find Rittenhouse not guilty of all counts in his homicide trial.
Rittenhouse has long claimed he acted in self-defense when he fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz. Though he testified that he intended to help local businesses and provide first aid assistance during the Jacob Blake demonstration, he admitted that attending the protest was not the greatest decision and doubled down on his defensive reaction.
“Well, hindsight being 20/20, probably not the best idea to go down there,” said Rittenhouse. “Can’t change that. But I defended myself and that’s what happened.” He also rejected the hosts’ claim that his successful shooting of Rosenbaum and Huber, who had criminal backgrounds, was “impressive.” “It’s nothing to be congratulated about,” he continued. “If I could go back, I wish I would never have had to take somebody’s life.”
