Last night’s Verzuz competition was arguably the series best to date — Three 6 Mafia went head-to-head against Bone Thugs-N-Harmony in a matchup that brought out every one from Lil Wayne to Terrence Howard. Presumably looking to build off that momentum, today (Dec 3) sees Juicy J dropping off a new single alongside his Taylor Gang cohort (and Verzuz attendee) Wiz Khalifa titled “Pop That Trunk,” which sees co-production from LilJuMadeDaBeat and samples the late Koopsta Knicca’s classic cut “Stash Pot.” As such, the collaborators can be heard living the rockstar lifestyle throughout:
“Sippin’ Yak’, in that new Maybach, how you like that? This ain’t an act, my life like a movie but you can’t write that, if you think you ain’t gon’ pay me my brick, you got me fucked up, catch your ass trickin’ on some pussy, get you stuck up, look at my smile, look at my style, I drive these bitches wild, you say you smoke dope by the ounce, I smoke it by the pound…”
Many could speculate that “Pop That Trunk” serves as the first single from a Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa joint album. A couple of months ago, Juicy J hinted at that possibility with some social media pics of the two in the studio — he also seemingly revealed the title of same project to be Stoner’s Night:
For the Memphis icon, it would be his latest body of work since 2020’s The Hustle Continues and its subsequent deluxe upgrade, which altogether saw 25 songs and a wealth of contributions from Pooh Shiesty, Lil Baby, 2 Chainz, Rico Nasty, Megan Thee Stallion, tragically slain hometown peer Young Dolph, and more. Meanwhile, this year saw Wiz and his crew coasting with well-received mixtapes like #FUCC2020, Taylor Nights, and Taylor Cinema.
