Today (Dec. 3), Khalid returns with a new EP titled Scenic Drive, which contained nine songs and additional features from Alicia Keys, 6LACK, Lucky Daye, QUIN, JID, Kiana Ledé, Majid Jordan, Smino, and Ari Lennox. The project was led by the James Maddocks, LNKmusic, Hoskins, and Charlie Handsome-produced single “Present,” which saw the RCA-signed artist singing about giving his all to his significant other:

“Is it okay if I take a night to be present, yeah? I can give you everything tonight, I just wanna be with you, baby, say the word, I’m comin’ through, baby, tell me what I gotta do, baby, pulled up to your avenue, baby…”

Just prior to Scenic Drive‘s release, Khalid took to Instagram to thank everyone who contributed to the short body of work:

“Here we go! I’m so grateful to have worked with so many amazing/talented artists on this project! Also, I’m so excited for everyone to hear this and live with it. I’m always nervous to release new music but can honestly say this is a project I’ll hold close to my heart forever. I wanna thank everyone from the producers to the features for bringing this to life!”

Scenic Drive follows 2019’s Free Spirit, Khalid‘s 17-track sophomore album that saw collaborations alongside Safe and John Mayer. While it was polarizing critically, Free Spirit was wildly successful commercially, and landed Khalid his first number one placement on the Billboard 200 thanks to 202,000 album equivalent units sold during his first week of release. The project has also since scored two Platinum certifications, along with Platinum and Gold plaques in several other countries. Currently, he’s said to be putting the final touches on his official full-length follow-up Everything Is Changing.
