Cardi B is now the first-ever creative director in residence at Playboy. The Bronx-born star announced her latest money move in a tweet on Thursday (Dec. 2).
“Ya girl is now the FIRST EVER Creative Director In Residence at [Playboy]!!! What a dream!!” she wrote.
According to a statement, Cardi’s new role will see her providing artistic direction for the brand’s digital editorial, experiential activations, cross-branded fashion and sexual wellness merchandise collections and more. The “Up” MC will also serve as a founding member and founding creative director for the brand’s new creator-led platform, CENTERFOLD.
“It is a dream come true to officially join the Playboy family. I can’t believe this is real,” Cardi said in a statement. “For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt connected to Playboy. It’s truly the original platform for uncensored creativity and I’m inspired by its incredible legacy of fighting for personal freedoms.”
“I have so many ideas already – I can’t wait!” she continued. “I’m also excited to launch our new creator-led platform, CENTERFOLD. Creators today deserve to express themselves freely and unfiltered. They deserve to feel safe in their creativity and sexuality. And they deserve to own their future. This is what CENTERFOLD is all about. For all those creators out there doing bold, revolutionary, truly culture-shifting things, come join me.”
Earlier this week, Cardi also celebrated her second diamond single, which made her the most-diamond-certified female rapper of all time. The 28-year-old’s breakout single “Bodak Yellow” reached diamond status earlier this year followed on Monday (Nov. 29) by “Girls Like You” featuring Maroon 5. Besides being the woman rapper with the most diamond-certified songs, Cardi is also the third female artist ever to have more than one diamond-selling track, behing Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
“Wow I got two Diamond records!” she tweeted on Monday. “Thank you sooo much Maroon 5 for including me on this song and this is the song I cater to my daughter every time I perform it. I’m forever grateful.”
