Following a year delay due to COVID-19, moviegoers will finally be able to head into theaters to watch Steven Spielberg adaptation of the iconic 50’s musical West Side Story, which has already received critical acclaim since its official premiere in New York City back in November. In addition to what is sure to be an equally amazing soundtrack, Kali Uchis and Ozuna teamed up to create an original song for the film titled “Another day in America,” a Manuel Lara and OneSix-produced effort that sees the artists speaking on their Latin roots, the still-ongoing struggles for immigrants in the United States, the prison system, and more:

“Money, greed, poison in the food, profit off the prisons and the brainwash in the schools, if you watch the media, that will keep you fooled, as locked to the screens, keep scrolling on your phones, money, greed, all that we consume, say ‘Land of the free,’ but that land was always stolen, mass incarceration and the detention centers, everything that they did to us never made the news…”

Last year saw Uchis release her sophomore LP Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), a Spanish album that saw 13 tracks with additional features from PARTYNEXTDOOR, Rico Nasty, Jowell & Randy, and Jhay Cortez. Earlier this year saw the DMV star collaborate with SZA for a remix of the standout single “Fue Mejor” — she also released an acoustic version of Sin Miedo in June. Meanwhile, this past January saw Ozuna joining forces with fellow Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA for the joint project Los Dioses, a top ten Billboard 200 success that also took the number one spots on both the Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums following its first week of release.
