LeBron James has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and will consequently miss a few games, according to TMZ.

The Lakers star was diagnosed on Tuesday (Nov. 30) afternoon after the results of his lateral flow test came back positive. He was placed in the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols as he conducted follow-up tests to confirm his status. The second test, a PCR test, came back negative, while the results of a third test were positive. Team officials have since chartered a jet so the baller could safely travel back to Los Angeles.

Per the league’s rules, James, who displayed no symptoms, must stay away from his team for 10 days and undergo subsequent cardiac screening and reconditioning after the period of isolation. Submitting two negative PCR tests within 24 hours can also get him back on the court.

“It’s a huge loss,” Lakers coach Vogel said on Tuesday ahead of their matchup with the Sacramento Kings. “It’s disappointing. We just want the best for him right now. That’s where our thoughts are.”

Davis, who later led the Lakers to a 117-92 victory, emphasized the importance of making sure James is healthy before he makes his return.

“He said he’s good,” Anthony Davis said of his teammate. “I think he’s asymptomatic, which is a good sign, but we want to make sure that he gets back. Health is most important. This is bigger than basketball. He has a family. We want to make sure that he’s good no matter what.”

Jame’s COVID-19 diagnosis comes nearly three months after he revealed he’d been vaccinated for the deadly virus.

“I know that I was very skeptical about it all,” he said in late September. “But after doing my research and things of that nature, I felt like it was best suited, not only for me but for my family and my friends. And that’s why I decided to do it.”
