While there’s no telling when a new album will finally arrive, Westside Boogie is determined to keep his fans fed with a slew of dope freestyles and live performances. Recently, the Compton emcee made a visit to Dezzie Gee’s The Corner Store show with son Darius in tow, during which he decided to deliver two fiery freestyles for the viewers — the latter of which was over a bouncy instrumental made viral by way of TikTok’s #GoOffChallenge and is filled with the top tier lyricism that leaves us all stunned and beyond belief with every listen:
“Ain’t no Uber or a ride, if I do, you gotta scoop me in the sky, you a goofy or the guy, you decide, uh, thankful for the hard shit, thankful for the burnt missions, teachin’ me my letdowns but now you know the terms different, shawty got some nerve ‘cause niggas never curve bitches, she ain’t my main and my broker have his turn with it, let me go off, ah, shit, go off…”
We are almost at the three year anniversary for Boogie’s official debut LP Everythings for Sale, a critically acclaimed masterpiece that consisted of 13 songs and additional contributions from JID, 6LACK, Christian Scott, Shaé Universe, Snoh Aalegra, and (Shady Records head honcho) Eminem, who delivered one of his best verses to date on the standout “Rainy Days.” Since then, Boogie has liberated a mixtape’s worth of freestyles over notable instrumentals for Moneybagg Yo’s “Said Sum,” CJ’s “Whoopty,” YN Jay and Louie Ray’s “Coochie,” and more — he’s also delivered intimate performances for new songs like “Float” and “Contradictions.” Last December, Boogie then made his official return with the single “Outside,” a collaboration alongside Joey BADA$$. Hopefully, there’s a lot more to come from Boogie sooner than later.
In the meantime, enjoy his “Corner Store Freestyle” below.
