Just recently, Key Glock revealed that he will soon be dropping his forthcoming project Yellow Tape 2, the sequel to last year’s Yellow Tape. Earlier this month, he kickstarted the campaign towards that release with the Tay Keith-backed “Ambition For Cash,” complete with a dope visual to match. Today (Oct. 14), he adds to that with “Da Truth,” which sees production from Pyrex Whippa and keeps with the street-oriented subject matter that Key Glock is well-known for.
Since Yellow Tape made landfall, Glock has continued to feed the streets with his special brand of music — not only as a solo artist, but also as a solo artist and as a part of the Young Dolph-led Paper Route collective. Months after the 16-track Yellow Tape saw Son of a Gun, another featureless body of work that shows off Glock’s ability to switch styles with little effort. Last March, Glock reconnected with Dolph for Dum and Dummer 2, the follow-up to 2019’s Dum and Dummer that landed the duo within the top ten of the Billboard 200 thanks to roughly 36,000 first-week album equivalent units sold. More recently, Glock appeared on PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi, which formally introduced other Paper Route members like Big Moochie Grape, Jay Fizzle, Kenny Muney, PaperRoute Woo, Snupe Bandz, and more.
In a recent interview for REVOLT’s “Off Top” series, Glock revealed what fuels his drive to succeed:
“Really, the way the industry set up … I feel like I got something to prove—like, to myself, I know I don’t got nothing to prove, shit to prove to nobody—but, I just feel like it’s something I’m missing. You know? And I just can’t figure it out yet, but, I’ma stay down until I get my hands on it.”
Check out Key Glock’s “Da Truth” and — if you missed it — the aforementioned clip for “Ambition For Cash.” Hopefully, we’ll be pressing play on Yellow Tape 2 by Thanksgiving.
