This past weekend, Curren$y dropped off his latest body of work Still Stoned on Ocean, a 11-song album that saw a couple of assists from Jim Jones and Fendi P. The project also featured production mainly handled by Smitty Beats and 808-Ray, with Marcello Valenzano — better known as Cool of Cool & Dre — taking care of the mixing.

Accompanying the release of Still Stoned on Ocean was a visual for the standout cut “The World is Ours,” which sees him reflecting on what set him apart from his peers in terms of his continued fame, fortune, and success:

“From the beginning, I knew I would be bigger, I knew I would be different, I was outgrowing friendships, some of ‘em didn’t get it, and that’s why they don’t got it, wealth in my mind, paper in my pocket, hella jewels in my rhymes, diamonds in my watches, only thinkin’ of profits, cautious ‘round these biotches…”

Directed by Bolo, the accompanying clip sees Curren$y with his crew in an auto shop filled with his custom-made sports cars. Interspersed throughout are throwback shots of the New Orleans legend in various moments of his career, complete with appearances from Rick Ross, Lil Snupe, Nipsey Hussle, Soulja Slim, Wiz Khalifa, Birdman, and more.

As with previous years, 2021 has seen Curren$y dropping enough top quality music to encompass others’ entire discographies — in addition to Still Stoned on Ocean, fans also received February’s The Collection Agency, June’s Welcome to Jet Life Recordings 2 with his Jet Life collective, August’s Highest in Charge with Trauma Tone, and September’s Matching Rolexes with Kino Beats. He even released the EP Financial District as an NFT in celebration of 4/20. It would not be a surprise in there were a few more bodies of work waiting to made landfall before the year’s end.
