In recent years, 50 Cent has gotten his feet wet in Hollywood, so when it comes to the thought of a romantic comedy, he already knows who his ideal costar would be. During a recent appearance on Jalen Rose’s “Renaissance Man” podcast, he revealed that he would be interested in starring alongside Nicki Minaj in a rom com.
“You know who would probably be fun to work with? Nicki Minaj would be fun to be in a romantic comedy with,” he said. According to 50, he can relate to the “Seeing Green” emcee as they both grew up in South Jamaica, Queens.
“I kinda understand her a little bit more than the other people,” said 50. “When she’s being an asshole it’s because she’s telling you, ‘You’re not going to take advantage of me.’”
While on the topic, the “Power” star shared his thoughts about the media’s treatment of Nicki, who was recently attacked for her thoughts on the COVID-19 vaccine as well as her decision to stand alongside her husband Kenneth Petty, who’s been accused of sexual assault. “I feel like she’s being attacked in a different way publicly,” he said. “It’s because of…choices [like] who you decide to be with. C’mon bro. … That’s her personal life, and she’s decided her personal business is personal. Why do you care?”
Though the conversation with Rose was about a hypothetical film, 50 has a few projects that have already come to fruition. “Black Mafia Family,” for example, was recently released, and it’s been picked up for a second season. While on a panel last month, he explained why he thinks the show is better than “Power.”
“‘Power’ is fictional,” he said. “This is a true story, a completely different project. ‘BMF’ is an organically bigger version of ‘Power.’ I have constantly said it will outperform ‘Power.’”
