JAY-Z and Kid Cudi have teamed up on a new track, which will be featured in the forthcoming Western, The Harder They Fall. A snippet of the rappers’ upcoming single, allegedly called “My Guns Go Bang,” was included in the film’s latest trailer released on Tuesday (Sept. 28).
Besides contributing a new song to The Harder They Fall soundtrack, JAY-Z is also a co-producer on the project. According to Variety, the Idris Elba-starring action flick follows two groups of fearless cowboys and cowgirls, including Regina King, Jonathan Majors, LaKeith Stanfield and more.
“When outlaw Nat Love (Majors) discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Elba) is being released from prison, he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge,” the movie’s official synopsis reads.
“Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler) — and a surprising adversary-turned-ally,” it adds. “Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including ‘Treacherous’ Trudy Smith (King) and Cherokee Bill (Stanfield), and they are not a group that knows how to lose.”
Jeymes Samuel will make his directorial debut with the film and also co-produce alongside Hov, James Lassiter and Lawrence Bender. Boaz Yakin and Samuel penned the script.
JAY and Samuel last worked together on the former’s 2017 short film, Legacy, which spawned from his 4:44 album. The pair also collaborated on the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby, which Hov executive produced and Samuel oversaw as music supervisor.
The Harder They Fall is set to have its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on Oct. 6 and will premiere on Netflix and in select theaters this November.
