Following Drake’s release of his headline-garnering Certified Lover Boy project, the intro track “Champagne Poetry” quickly rose to become a fan-favorite. The enticing instrumental, which was originally made by the multi-talented Masego for his “Navajo” track, has been borrowed by rappers like Freddie Gibbs and now IDK is the latest to put his spin on it. On the new freestyle, IDK interpolates Masego’s original lyrics before firing off his own bars:
I thought she was an Indian (Navajo) she be slangin’ thangs like a simian (Now I know)/ All my life, wanted an Indian (There she go), now she’s far away/ Ran my own shit since 2015 no team, just me and the friends/ We doing our ting, South by Southwest, thеy swarm to the stage for me
But it wasn’t for mе, like actually, I performed for five people/ Including the janitor, including my manager but I was performing like ninety-nine was my stamina/ Eighty-eight was my overall, held my heart to my chest like my heart was sitting on overalls/ Life testing me constantly like it’s filming an overall, talking to myself like, “When I make it, it’s over for y’all”
Back in July, PG County’s very own IDK unleashed his anticipated USEE4YOURSELFalbum. The new body of work boasts 17 tracks and an impressive roster of features, including names like MF DOOM, Slick Rick, Jay Electronica, Offset, Young Thug, and plenty more. He shared his latest offering from the project, the official video for “Dogs Don’t Lie,” to keep the momentum going.
Preceding the official project release, IDK prepped fans with singles like “Peloton” and “Pradada Bang” featuring Young Thug. IDK’s USEE4YOURSELF project follows his 2019 debut LP Is He Real?, which saw 14 tracks with additional assists from DMX, Pusha T, JID, Tyler, the Creator, Burna Boy, GLC, Lil Kymchii, Jerm, and Kapri Styles.
