Big Freedia has officially unveiled her uplifting new EP Big Diva Energy today (Sept. 17). The Queen of Bounce keeps the energy going as she premieres her brand new music video for “Not Today” exclusively with REVOLT. On the new track, Freedia enlisted the Scissor Sisters’ own Jake Shears alongside Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph of Tank and the Bangas to add their flavor to the collaboration. The high-energy visual opens up with a scene of Freedia in an office meeting before taking matters into her own hands after she realizes she will settle for nothing less than what she is worth.

Along with the new video release, the New Orleans star made sure to take some time to explain the message she wanted to send with the new track. “‘Not Today’ is about that feeling you get as an artist sometimes when people forget your humanity and look at you as just a money maker” she tells REVOLT. “I’m saying, ‘Hold up. I see what you are doing and it’s not gonna happen today, not tomorrow — not never bitch.’”

Big Freedia shared a series of sizzling bounce anthems serving as appetizers before the new EP arrived. These tracks included “Betty Bussit” featuring Soaky Siren, and Tank and The Bangas, “Judas,” “Platinum,” and she even dropped off a Christmas EP titled Big Freedia’s Smokin’ Santa Christmas to brighten people’s holiday cheer.

Big Diva Energy is a follow-up to her 2020 EP, Louder, which made landfall back in the middle of March. The five-track body of work included guest appearances from Icona Pop, The Soul Rebels, Kesha, and Lil Aaron. Unfortunately, its release date landed during the week the pandemic erupted last year, but Freedia turned tragedy to triumph as she spun this energy with the positivity she is known for as she went on to formally launch an online cooking show.
