Sneaker brand Ewing Athletics has revealed yet another hip hop collaboration. This time, the shoe brand created by NBA legend Patrick Ewing has teamed up with Buffalo hip hop artist Benny The Butcher on a reworked pair of the OG Sport Lite silhouette. The kicks come in a black/red/silver colorway and feature a Benny the Butcher logo with two butcher knives on the tongue as well as along the toe box. The Griselda lyricist’s name also appears on the heels of the sneakers. The sole is made up of a translucent clear red bottom and the shoes should be pretty comfortable with the lightweight cushioning within the midsole. Adding to its allure, Ewing has provided premium packaging for each pair.
Last year, Benny appeared in a magazine-style campaign for a collaboration curated by UNDEFEATED, BAPE, and adidas. He wore the streetwear trio’s ZX 8000 shoe then, but his collaboration with Ewing Athletics serves as his first official co-branded sneaker.
Benny’s foray into the fashion realm includes a partnership with his hometown Buffalo Bills as well. The collection with his favorite NFL team, which was launched in early 2021, includes a black t-shirt and hoodie with Benny in a Bills jersey holding a Pyrex cup like a football. He also has a variety of gear in his merch store, such as scorpion tees, back outside mesh shorts, and character shirts in several colorways.
Ewing Athletics is on a hip hop influenced tear this year. The brand has teamed up with several legends on sneaker collaborations, including DJ Tony Touch, Naughty by Nature, and Havoc of Mobb Deep. Each of the aforementioned kicks have recreated the 33 Hi model. Last year, they teamed up with EPMD, Death Row Records, So So Def Records, Tha Dogg Pound, Main Source, Big Pun, and more.
