Soon, MoStack will unveil his latest body of work High Street Kid 2, the official sequel to his 2017 mixtape High Street Kid that looks to contain 14 new tracks from the London star. Back in July, he officially kick-started the campaign with the Rxwntree-produced “Ride” — today (Sept. 10), MoStack adds to that with “Bronson,” another infectious offering that sees production from Benjamin Miller and Swifta Beater and keeps with the previous song’s introspective, street-oriented subject matter:
“Ayo, that’s how it gets in the ghetto, all this smoke that we let go, they thought we had the cancer like Geko, bullet’s flyin’ in the air like a UFO, we ain’t shoutin’ through the channel but you still hear the echo, fuck that gyal there, I had a ten and I let go, she said “Shout me”, I said ‘Yeah, yeah, defo,’ bro, you let it ring? Yeah, yeah, defo, ay, bro, you got the ting? Yeah, yeah, defo, I’m a weird individual, I see what’s invisible, them friends weren’t suitable, I don’t want ‘em at my funeral…”
Directed by Suave and MoStack himself, “Bronson” sees the emcee with his crew, performing the tracks in different locations around what’s presumed to be his Hornsey stomping grounds. The end of the clip sees MoStack & Co. rapping the lyrics from the song’s namesake, who — judging from the rest of the track — is currently incarcerated.
Upon its release, High Street Kid 2 will follow MoStack’s 2019 debut LP Stacko, which came with 13 tracks and additional contributions from J Hus, Dave, Stormzy, Fredo, and Dolapo. Largely produced by iLL BLU, the afroswing-styled body of work landed within the top three of the UK’s Official Albums chart, subsequently scoring MoStack a Silver certification.
