Sinéad Harnett officially unleashed her thoughtful sophomore album Ready Is Always Too Late back in May. Preceding the project, Harnett gave listeners a taste of what was to come by releasing singles like “Stickin’” with Masego and VanJess and “Take Me Away” featuring EarthGang.
She now continues the momentum of the project by revealing her brand new video for “Distraction.” Directed by Ana Tanaka, the new offering is reminiscent of an old Hollywood glam style visual. On the track, Sinead asks a love interest if she only amounts to a distraction:
Is that enough distraction? You’re lookin’ back, I see/ One night of passion, charge you up all week, give you satisfaction/ Give you all you need/ Is that enough distraction for you, for you?
At the thought of it, I know it make you weak, is that why you seem to make it hard to speak? Ain’t nobody that can please you like me (Oh yeah)/ When you call, then you know I’m gonna show/ Take you there where I know you wanna go/ More high than you ever been before
Sinéad took some times to share her intention behind the track, which serves to be a relatable moment for people who realize they deserve more from a current situation. “Distraction is sassy with an empowering nod to the people who are tired of trying to keep their partner’s attention,” she shares via press release. “It’s playful and fun, but with an underlying vulnerability.”
In 2019, Sinéad saw the release of her long-awaited debut album, Lessons in Love. The London-born R&B vocalist came onto the scene thanks to a series of major collaborations with the likes of Disclosure (“Boiling”), Kaytranada (“Heal You” featuring Wretch 32, “Say What You Mean”), Snakeships (“No Other Way,” “Rather Be With You”), and on three of Rudimental’s tracks off his UK #1 album Home (“Home,” “Hide,” and “Baby” with MNEK).
