Next month, Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will once again open its doors, and will see a wide range of artists hitting the stage — Megan Thee Stallion, G-Eazy, Lizzo, Tame Impala, Lil Baby, Run The Jewels, and Tyler, The Creator are among the many included. Yesterday (August 10), the event staff took to social media to announce that, as a result of the current COVID-19 surge, attendees will be required to provide either proof of vaccination or a negative test to be able to enter:

“The safety of our patrons and staff is our number one priority. As such a full COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test will be required to attend Bonnaroo 2021. Bonnaroo strongly encourages vaccination. … For patrons who are not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained within 72 hours (3 days) of first entering Centeroo.”

In addition, it was also revealed that any who are unvaccinated will need wear a mask at all times while on the festival premises.

The news comes after entities such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the increasing rise in COVID-19 cases in recent months — specifically the now-dominant Delta and newer Lambda variants. As previously reported by REVOLT last month, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky warned the nation of the “pivotal moment” that the country is currently in:

“Compared to the virus we had circulating initially in the United States at the start of the pandemic, the Delta variant is more aggressive and much more transmissible than previously circulating strains. It is one of the most infectious respiratory viruses we know of and that I have seen in my 20-year career.”
