As Duckwrth gears up to release his forthcoming SG8 project, he’s making sure to keep a steady stream of preview coming. First up was “Birthday Suit” and then “Make U Go,” and he even made an appearance the Space Jam: A New Legacy’s soundtrack on Settle The Score” with Cordae.
Now, he’s back with his latest offering, the freshly released “4K” track. Equipped with an assist from Phabo, Duckwrth drew inspiration from the pandemic and its aftermath for the new single. “Right when outside started opening up and everyone started flocking to Tulum and Hawaii…that’s what 4K is about,” he says about the song via press release. “Trying to adjust and acclimate while still having fun. It’s the paradox of the recurring line, ‘Was your pandemic popping?’ 4K is a movie, and that’s what the pandemic turned into when we were let loose.”
The track is from his upcoming Fall EP, SG8*, which stands for Super Good 8 and is named after the SuperGood brand he created and the evolution to his 2020 album. The forthcoming EP also features production by WaveIQ (Jaden Smith, Goldlink) and Loshendrix (SZA, Brent Faiyaz, Kehlani). His tour kicking off in September already has sold-out dates in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Oakland, and Chicago. Additionally, he has appeared in campaigns for Vans and Adidas Originals recently.
Back in 2020, Duckwrth unleashed the aforementioned SuperGood project. It included 16 tracks and boasted features from names like Jean Deaux, KIAN, two from Julia Romana, G.L.A.M., EARTHGANG, Kyle Dion, Alex Mali, Radio Ahlee, and BAYLI. DUCKWRTH also can be heard handing out assists on recent projects such as Caleborate’s new Light Hit My Skin, Louis the Child’s Here for Now (Deluxe), and Tobe Nwigwe’s CINCORIGINALS.
