Snoop Dogg thanked fans for their prayers on Sunday (July 25) and offered an update on his mother’s health. The 49-year-old MC shared a photo on Instagram of himself visiting his mom, Beverly Tate, at the hospital.
“Happy Sunday me and my brothers went to c mama today and she opened up her eyes to c us and let us know she still fighting. God is good,” he wrote. “Thanks for all the prayers 1 day at a time.”
Fans and collaborators continued to wish Snoop and Tate well under the post, including the likes of Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Bow Wow, Jhené Aiko and Busta Rhymes.
Snoop let fans know that his mother’s health was declining earlier this year. In several posts, the Long Beach native asked fans to send their prayers and positive thoughts to Tate but didn’t reveal what she was suffering from.
“Need all my prayer warriors for momma right now please and thank you,” he wrote about his mom, who is 70 years old.
Snoop has often shared photos of his mom with fans on social media. As reported by REVOLT, he revealed on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook show “Red Table Talk” that it was Tate who convinced him to apologize to CBS host Gayle King for the derogatory comments he made about her.
“She didn’t say I was wrong she just said, ‘You know I raised you better than that. You’re a representation of us. Every woman that ever crossed your life, you’re a representation of that’ – so I got it,” he said on the show.
In other news about Snoop’s family, the rapper’s daughter Cori recently shut down social media trolls who attacked her with body-shaming comments.
“Like what y’all b so miserable on here,” she addressed one critic who suggested she get breast reduction surgery and a tummy tuck. “Like I don’t know what I’m suppose to do my shit just big as fuck. Y’all be annoying on here.”
