Issa Rae married her fiancé Louis Diame over the weekend at a private wedding ceremony in the South of France. The “Insecure” star confirmed the news in an Instagram post on Monday (July 26) by sharing a series of stunning wedding portraits.

She also included a tongue-in-cheek caption, which read: “A) Impromptu photo shoot in a custom [Vera Wang] dress. B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed. C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband.”

Rae added, “Big thanks to [White Eden Weddings] for being so gracious and accommodating and making this feel so real and special.”

On Twitter, fans and colleagues celebrated the big news.

“Not Issa Rae secretly getting married then acting like it was just a random photo shoot,” one fan wrote. “She’s jokes.”

“Issa Rae’s wedding pictures are beyond beautiful omg,” another tweeted.

According to E!, a group of guests traveled with the couple to France to attend the private ceremony and some were invited to stay at the Jean Cap Ferrat hotel nearby. Rae and Diame have famously kept their relationship under wraps. Elle reports that some fans have traced the couple’s romance back to at least 2012 and there were rumors that they became engaged in 2019 when Rae was pictured on Essence magazine wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring.

Rae once spoke to Vogue about why she chooses to keep her love life private.

“I don’t want any input,” she explained. “As a writer, you put everything on the table. I’ll take input on kids if I’m going to have kids. How do I not kill the kids? Work? Give me the input. Any other aspect of my life? Give me the input. But who I’m fucking? No, I don’t need input. I’m good.”
