Pop Smoke fans are showing the late rapper some love on his birthday.
On Tuesday (July 20), the Brooklyn emcee would have turned 22, so his supporters took to social media to celebrate his special day. In a slew of posts, they declared their love for Pop and his music, and mourned his early death.
“Happy birthday to the fuckin woo,” wrote Twitter user @JadaAriiii. “We miss u!!!”
User _GoDannie said that “Pop Smoke should still be here for his birthday,” and @TTorrez expressed similar sentiments, adding that the star’s presence would have allowed him to see his dreams come to fruition.
“Happy heavenly birthday #popsmoke,” the tweet read. “I wish you were here in person to see all your dreams come true!!!!”
Furthermore, user @KrashUber celebrated Pop’s success in his absence. “Happy Birthday to Pop Smoke would’ve been 22,” he wrote. “Only an 8 month career and already doing legendary numbers.”
Fresh off the release of Pop’s Meet the Woo 2 mixtape, the emcee traveled to a Hollywood Hills Airbnb to finish recording his debut album. While there, a group of teens raided the home in search of the rapper and the jewelry he sported in an Instagram post. He attempted to fight back, but shots were fired, and he was repeatedly kicked as he laid on the ground. He never made it back home.
Following his untimely death, Pop’s manager Steven Victor teamed up with 50 Cent and others to put together Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon in his honor. The record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making him the first hip hop artist to posthumously debut atop the chart. Nearly a year later, it still holds a spot on the music list.
With a discography that includes his mix tapes, his debut album and his recently-released FAITH project, some fans dedicated his birthday to streaming his music. Twitter user @mikayylaa announced that she’d be “listening to his ass all week.”
