Kyle Dion has released his latest single “Placebo,” and he recruited the assistance of the legendary Ja Rule. The track is set to appear Dion’s forthcoming album, set to arrive on Aug 20. On the track, Ja Rule matches the vibe of the breezy track effortlessly while keeping his signature sound:
Baby, you reminiscin’ to the ribbons in the clouds, that Stevie was singin’ ‘bout/ ’Cause I never seen a smile, no lie, no lie I’m talkin’ ‘bout angels that get high/ And you know that they can fly off of one wing
You see that little sparkle in your eyes that’s placebo (Placebo)/ I can make that Crown Royal go down, that’s that rico, the lesser of two evils/ Baby, I rather love you than leave you, cause I ain’t comin’ back, it’s the sequel
When Kyle first made the record, he finished off by jokingly telling a friend in the studio that Ja Rule’s ad-libs would sound great on the song. Fast forward to the top of 2021, Kyle’s label connected with Ja’s team and sent him the track, and he exceeded Dion’s expectations. “I was so excited and we have this crazy reaction video to when we first heard his cut,” Dion says via press release. “Originally, I only expected him to record ad-libs, but he sent me back a full verse and was like ‘I got you.’ He definitely brought a new vibe to the track.”
“Placebo” marks Dion’s second single of the year, following “Purr,” which features Kari Faux and was released back in April. His last full length project was 2019’s Suga, which was actually reissued last year with a handful of extra songs. That project contained fan favorite cuts like “Brown” and “Play Too Much.”
