After rising to popularity and winning hearts across the world for his musical abilities this past year, Amorphous has officially unleashed his debut EP Things Take Shape. On his first project, he is able to boast guest appearances from an extremely strong roster of artists, including names like Brandy, James Fauntleroy, Kelly Rowland, Bree Runway, and more. On the stand out intro track, “The Wave,” Brandy’s well-loved voice leads listeners into the project:
Every summer I go under, undercover/ Every sun-up it’s a come-up with my lover/ If you ever wanna wonder what I’m under/ You know I’m under your spell, you trippin’ as well, you can’t tell/ Just ride the wave, ride the wave, ride the wave/
Need to relax, stop tryin’ me you can relax around me, if you can relax around me, I’ll let you ride the wave/ Every summer I go under, undercovеr (My lover)/
A few months ago, Amorphous tapped in with Kehlani to release their collab single “Back Together.” Back in November, Amorphous revealed his mash-up version of Luther Vandross’ “Never Too Much” and Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better,” and it took social media by an absolute storm. The track was so infectious that it caught the attention of DJ Khaled and Cool & Dre, Fat Joe, who added in their own flavor and partnered with the young producer prodigy to make it into an official single. Shortly afterwards, “Sunshine (The Light)” was born, accompanied by a star-studded music video on a yacht to match.
During a moment of gratitude, Amorphous took to his Instagram to share some reflection about how far he has come. “As many know, I had my breakout due to my mixes last year, but music production had always come first,” he types. “At three years old, I would beatbox to Aaliyah’s ‘we need a resolution’ on the porch. That is so full circle, because on the first track of the project, ‘THE WAVE,’ with Brandy and James Fauntleroy, my beatboxing takes center stage. This project means so much to me.”
