Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap has officially spent 100 weeks on the Billboard 200, according to chart data. The milestone was achieved as the emcee’s last album made its reentry into the music chart.

After releasing a slew of mixtapes, Nipsey dropped his first and only studio album in February 2018. The album entered the Billboard 200 as the No. 4 song; sold 33,000 album-equivalent units in it first week and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st annual Grammy Awards.

Upon receiving the nod from the Recording Academy, the West Coast star explained why he believed his debut album was worthy of a trophy.

“I just think the amount of life, the amount of narrative, the amount of truth, the amount of pieces of somebody’s life stories that went into Victory Lap is one of the reasons why my album is the best rap album of 2018,” he told Carl Lamarre. “I just wanted to do something timeless and that years from now, you’d enjoy it and say, ‘That was classic hip-hop right there. That’s what our genre sounds like [at its best].’”

Nip’s appearance alongside Lauren London at the Grammys that year was one of the emcee’s last award shows before his fatal shooting outside of his Marathon Clothing Store on March 31, 2019.

His death sparked renewed interest in Victory Lap, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 the month after he passed away. His life, legacy and contributions to the entertainment industry will be recognized when the rapper receives his posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

While fans revel in Nip’s post-mortem honors, justice hasn’t yet been served. Eric Holder, the rapper’s alleged killer, recently got a new lawyer for his murder trial. During the last court hearing, the trial was pushed back again, and Deputy Public Defender Aaron Jansen revealed that his client had a “significant mental health history,” which may have played a role in his mindset during Nip’s shooting.
