If you thought LeBron James was serious about his basketball games, take a look at him when his namesake son is on the court. On Saturday (July 3), the Lakers star attended Bronny’s basketball game at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School and was less than happy when the public address announcer made a joke that he didn’t like.

During the last few minutes of the game, the referee said he was calling a foul against Bronny, and the play-by-play announcer suggested the call was made because he was playing in the LeBron James Arena — a gym named after his father. Infuriated by the joke, the 36-year-old star made his way toward the announcer and yelled at him amid the game. After about a minute, he calmed down and walked back to his seat.

James is an outspoken individual who has never shied away from sharing his thoughts on everything from sports, music and social justice. Last month, he called the NBA out for rushing into the 2020-2021 season, which he believes resulted in multiple ballers being injured.

“They all didn’t wanna listen to me about the start of the season,” he tweeted. “I knew exactly what would happen. I only wanted to protect the well-being of the players which ultimately is the PRODUCT & BENEFIT of OUR GAME! These injuries [aren’t] just ‘PART OF THE GAME.’”

“It’s the lack of PURE RIM REST rest before starting back up. 8, possibly 9 ALL-STARS [have] missed Playoff games (most in league history). This is the best time of the year for our league and fans, but missing a ton of our fav players. It’s insane.”

“If there’s one person that knows about the body and how it works all year round it’s ME!” James added. “I speak for the health of all our players and I hate to see this many injuries this time of the year. Sorry fans. Wish you guys were seeing all your fav guys right now.”

Bronny’s Strive for Greatness team — who was competing in the Battle Summer Showcase that highlights the best talent in the Midwest — lost the game 73-69 to their opponent.
