On Saturday (June 26), Soulja Boy and Bow Wow faced off in a Verzuz that saw the former Mr. 106 & Park flaunting his amazing stage presence nearly two decades after he made his rapping debut. Despite his years-long run in the game, his hit records and his ability to still work the stage, Bow not only doesn’t HAVE to make music — as he mentioned many times throughout the battle — he just doesn’t WANT to.
On Tuesday (June 29), the “Outta My System” emcee took to Instagram to reveal some of the obstacles he had to overcome before he was set to take the stage.
“I was soooo stressed putting this show together in 4 days for VERZUZ!!” he wrote. “What ya’ll don’t know is our hard drive CRASHED 6 mins before we went live!! SEE.”
Alongside the caption, he shared a video that appeared to be his live reaction to the news of his damaged hard drive. In it, he provided fans with a reason behind his decision to stop rapping.
“Y’all niggas see why I don’t be wanting to rap no motherfucking more?” Bow said in the clip. “This is exactly why I’m at peace. I’m at peace man. I like hosting my shit, making more money than half of y’all rap niggas. I like doing my podcast. This shit right here is the number one reason why a nigga don’t wanna rap no more. This is the reason why. I do movies, and I do so much other shit. It’s because rap shit brings stress….I don’t fuck with rap. I hate doing this shit.”
While Bow stressed about the fact that his hard drive wasn’t working before the show, Soulja Boy argued with security to get his crew members access to the backstage area of the event. Both problems were solved, making way for one of the best Verzuz battles to date.
