Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s date night plans were disrupted on Wednesday (June 23) when the couple was denied entry at a bar in New York. According to footage that circulated on social media Thursday afternoon (June 24), some of the bouncers at the establishment claimed to be unfamiliar with the superstar artists and demanded that they show identification.
In one clip published by XXL, a woman working at the bar can be heard yelling, “I don’t know who you are.” Not much of the conversation is audible, but one bouncer can be heard asking Rocky, “You don’t got none of your business cards on you, boy?”
However, the couple did eventually get into the bar, which some unconfirmed reports have said was New York’s Barcade. Other pictures on social media showed them playing vintage arcade games inside the establishment and when they left they caught up with paparazzi and signed an autograph for a fan.
Last month, Rocky opened up about his relationship with Rihanna in a cover story for GQ. The “Peso” rapper referred to the Barbadian singer as “the love of my life.”
“[It’s] so much better when you got ‘the one,’” he said at the time. “She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones.”
“I think when you know, you know,” he added. “She’s the one.”
Upon releasing his new documentary Stockholm Syndrome about his stint in a Swedish prison, Rocky also spoke to Entertainment Tonight about Rihanna’s support for the project.
“It’s amazing and I’m honestly truly blessed, for real,” he said, explaining that it’s “important having that support in real life, you know?”
“I just wanted to tell my story without really complaining or without, you know, seeming like a victim, or like I wanted a pity party or what not,” he added. “So, here it is.”
