Pusha T has a fan in MSNBC chief legal correspondent Ari Melber. On Wednesday’s (June 9) episode of “The Beat with Ari Melber,” the news anchor used the rapper’s lyrics amid a discussion about Allen Weisselberg, the CFO of The Trump Organization who is said to be cooperating with investigators amid a probe into his personal taxes.

In an effort to explain the CFO’s alleged cooperation, he quoted Pusha T’s “S.N.I.T.C.H,” specifically reciting the following bars:

“Covered his own tracks, he didn’t care that/We had a legacy he killed, I got to wear that/Break your heart when the man you call your brother/Be the same one that set in motion all them undercovers/From great friends now it’s no affiliation/Divided by the time he was facing.”

Pusha T got wind of his mention on Melber’s show and shared the video on his Instagram account. “I have to be the most quoted on @thebeatwithari,” he captioned the clip. “@arimelber do the numbers and let the people know…”

Melber has been known to quote hip hop lyrics on his show. In the past, he’s cited lyrics from the likes of Drake, Three 6 Mafia and JAY-Z. He once told HipHopDX that he uses songs from the genre to help him explain complex situations, not to “flex for people who don’t watch the show.”

“I don’t think of it as recruitment for new viewers because my first responsibility is to the people who actually tune in to the show,” he said in the 2018 interview. “But I’ll reach for anything to help explain what can be unnecessarily complex matters.”

With a Pusha T project on the way, one that the emcee claims will be “the best album that drops in 2021,” Melber will soon have a whole set of new songs to cite in future episodes of his show.
