ASAP Rocky, Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Burna Boy and more will perform at this year’s Governors Ball. The New York City-based music festival announced its return in an Instagram post on Tuesday (May 4) after canceling last year’s installation due to the pandemic.
“Building a recovery for all of us means reconnecting with the iconic events that make New York City the greatest travel destination in the world,” NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement. “As more New Yorkers become vaccinated by the day, we’re proud to support arts and culture and welcome back Governors Ball and their fantastic lineup, including New York City’s own Princess Nokia, A$AP Rocky and King Princess, among others.”
The 2021 Governors Ball will also mark the festival’s 10-year anniversary. Additional acts will include 21 Savage, Young Thug, Freddie Gibbs with The Alchemist, Post Malone, Cordae, Aminé, EarthGang, Pink Sweat$, Smino, Kota the Friend and more.
According to The Governors Ball official website, the festival’s rules will be in accordance with state COVID-19 guidelines.
“While we don’t know what may or may not be required come show day (e.g. proof of vaccination, proof of negative test, etc.), rest assured that we are working closely with the City and we will follow ALL state and federal health guidelines provided,” the site reads. “Additional details will be released in the coming months and everything is subject to final approval by the City of New York.”
Pre-sale tickets for the fall event are available now on The Governors Ball website. General ticket sales will begin on Thursday (May 6), also on the website, at 12 p.m. EST. Fans who bought tickets to last year’s festival will also be able to use their tickets at this year’s event, and the website notes that refunds will be issued should the festival need to be rescheduled.
The Governors Ball 2021 will be held at Citi Field in Queens, New York and is scheduled to run from Friday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Sept. 26. See the festival’s full lineup on Instagram below.
