The Griselda crew is not breaking up anytime soon. Since the Buffalo-bred collective – which is linked by brothers Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine and their cousin Benny the Butcher – reached mainstream fame, fans have been worried about a potential split. However, Conway put a stop to the rumors during an interview with Hot 97.
Earlier this year, Conway appeared to egg some of the speculation on by engaging with fans on Twitter. The conversation began when a fan asked Conway why he wasn’t involved with Griselda’s debut film, Conflicted.
“It’s kind of amusing,” he recalled. “I was having a little fun with the shit actually… That ain’t the case. We all good.”
Conway further explained that because of Griselda’s immense success, each groupmate has had time to focus on their own independent projects. However, that doesn’t mean they’re not still tight-knit.
“We in this shit so deep now that everybody on their own thing,” he said. “Like, West got the store, the clothing line. He’s having kids at a rapid rate. He has his family and shit. Benny, he has BSF. He got artists he’s trying to push and things he’s trying to do, a sports firm. Benny on fire. No. 1 album in the country every time he drops shit.”
“We ain’t really have the time to mob together all the time. We all live in different cities now. Life is treating us differently,” he continued. “When we together, we together.”
Conway also said that although the group “sees each other all the time” they don’t always post their outings on social media.
“It ain’t like a media thing. That’s corny to me,” he said.
Conway recently dropped off his latest solo album, La Maquina. Benny, on the other hand, last released his joint effort with producer Harry Fraud, The Plugs I Met 2, while Westside is currently working on Pray For Haiti.
