BROCKHAMPTON recently unleashed their new ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE project, and have yet to disappoint in terms of their visuals. The latest offering stars the man of the hour Lil Nas X as he and his co-star Dominic Fike take a trip together into the woods for the “Count On Me” visual. What starts off as an innocent ride eventually takes an extremely trippy turn as A$AP Rocky’s opening verse begins to play:
You look so different to me, it’s like you barely even know me/ You was missin’ from me, swear I’m tired of feelin’ lonely/ Like, Field Mob song, Trill Mob boy, keep it MIA for too long, so far/ Now catch the compensation, change the conversation, dollars all I’m chasin’
Ain’t talkin’ money, fuck is you sayin’? I’m non-comprehensive, money finish sentences/ No, I ain’t sensitive, n***a, just highly offended
“Count On Me” is BROCKHAMPTON’s second single from their brand new sixth studio album, ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE. The song features only two of the seven BROCKHAMPTON vocalists but features verses from A$AP Rocky and SoGone SoFlexy, as well as uncredited vocals on the chorus from Shawn Mendes and frequent collaborator Ryan Beatty. According to a Genius annotation, a snippet of the song was first leaked in Dec 2020, containing a portion of Rocky’s verse and bearface vocals. Lyrics from Flexy’s verse, as well as the song title, were accidentally revealed by HK in an Instagram live with Kevin Abstract on Feb 23, 2021.
BROCKHAMPTON’s last body of work was 2019’s GINGER, which boasts their highly successful, Platinum-certified single “SUGAR.” Prior to that was 2018’s iridescenceand then their SATURATION trilogy that started back in 2017.
