DMX is reportedly experiencing significant organ failure, TMZ reported on Friday (April 9). The 50-year-old rapper has been in a coma and on life support since he suffered a heart attack one week ago (April 2).
A source told the outlet on Friday morning that X’s “organs are failing by the minute.” His family and friends have also reportedly been told to fly in immediately to be with him at the hospital.
X’s family is expected to make an official statement about his current condition later today. Fans panicked yesterday (April 8) after media outlets and some celebrities erroneously reported that X was taken off life support and had passed away. His manager, Steve Rifkind, later corrected the reports and confirmed the rapper is still alive and on life support.
“Everybody, please stop with the posting with these rumors. DMX is still alive. Yes, he is on life support,” Rifkind said on Instagram. “But please, it’s not helping anybody by seeing these false rumors. Let the family relax for a night. You will be hearing a statement from the family sometime tomorrow.”
As reported by REVOLT, doctors performed tests on DMX on Wednesday (April 7) to check his brain function level. Sadly, TMZ reported that the tests showed X’s brain function has not improved.
The hip hop world has been in a standstill since the shocking news of X’s hospitalization broke this weekend. Hundreds of fans and members of the Ruff Ryders MC’s family gathered outside of New York’s White Plains Hospital for a vigil on Wednesday night to pray for his recovery.
“The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl,” his family previously said. “Earl is someone whose life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”
