After the likes of Drake, Meek Mill, T.I. and others banded together to petition for Ralo’s freedom, the Gucci Mane-signed rapper is now showing his appreciation. On Thursday (April 1), Ralo took to Instagram to thank the hip hop heavyweights in his corner.
“TODAY MY LEGAL TEAM DELIVERED DOCUMENTS DIRECTLY IN THE HANDS OF PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN AND HIS ADMINISTRATION BEGGING FOR A PARDON FOR MYSELF,” Ralo wrote. “DRAKE WAS #1 ON THAT LIST IN SUPPORT OF MY PARDON, ALONG WITH DOZENS OF OTHER HIGH RANKING PEOPLE WITHIN OUR COUNTRY & THE HIP HOP COMMUNITY.”
“WE THANK HIM AND EVERYONE THATS PUTTING IN EFFORT INTO THIS CAUSE,” he added. “[Forbes] AN[D] OTHERS ARE USING MY CASE AS THE FACE FOR JUSTICE ON MARIJUANA. WE CALLING FOR PUBLIC AND ALL INFLUENCERS SUPPORT.”
As reported by REVOLT, Drake, T.I., Killer Mike, 2 Chainz, Lil Yachty, Waka Flocka Flame and more teamed up this week with the clemency activism group Mission Green to petition for Ralo’s release. The rappers signed a letter addressed to President Joe Biden asking for Ralo’s sentence to be commuted.
“On behalf of Terrell Davis and his family, we strongly urge you to grant clemency for Mr. Davis, who is serving federal time for a nonviolent marijuana offense,” the letter read.
Ralo was arrested in 2018 after police found 444 pounds of marijuana on board his private plane. He was charged with two federal counts of intent to distribute marijuana and has been waiting for his trial for almost three years.
“Our nation’s view of cannabis has evolved, and it is indefensible to incarcerate citizens based on the unduly harsh attitudes of past generations,” the letter added.
Ralo was granted bond last July. However, a U.S. District Judge revoked it after determining the rapper was still distributing narcotics from behind bars.
