On Saturday (March 20), Lakers fans — specifically fans of LeBron James — went into a panic when the NBA champ went down in pain after suffering an ankle injury during a basketball game against the Atlanta Hawks.
Video of the scary incident shows James attempting to make a basket when a Hawks player almost successfully takes the ball from him. As James tries to regain control of the ball, he accidentally trips over the Atlanta player, and goes crashing down. The pain was so bad that the Lakers athlete had to crawl away from the court, as he tried to gather himself. James is seen rolling in the floor in agony. This moment not only worried his fellow teammates, but ballers of the Atlanta team — and especially his fans who were watching from their TVs.
James would soon get back up and score a 3-pointer. But, his pain was too unbearable. So, the athlete would call for a timeout immediately after that and head to the Lakers locker room to get checked out by a medical professional. As he walked to the locker room, James was visibly upset and even knocked down a chair in frustration.
Soon after this moment, Dave McMenamin, an NBA reporter for ESPN, revealed that James will be out for the remainder of the game. He tweeted, “The Lakers say that LeBron James will not return to today’s game because of his right ankle injury.” Others sports media professionals confirmed this news, as well.
In other James news, it’s recently been reported that he’s now part-owner of the Boston Red Sox, as well as “other FSG subsidiaries, including NESN, Roush Fenway Racing and Fenway Sports Management,” according to The Boston Globe.
We’re wishing for a speedy recovery for the NBA athlete turned MLB owner to bounce back like nothing ever happened.
