If there’s anyone that’s been helping us through this pandemic, it’s D-Nice. When times were really heavy, the hip hop icon was one of the first to utilize social media to keep us in high hope with virtual sets, spinning everything from old school classics to fresh chart-topping cuts.
Today, the self-proclaimed “Club Quarantine” mastermind brings forth an infectious single of his own titled “No Plans For Love,” a collaboration with Ne-Yo and Kent Jones that sees the artists speaking to love interests that may be looking for more than expected:
“Pure seduction in her eyes I’ve heard story after story no surprise, you see her wonder, face to face said she lookin for love not the case, said I know better than to fall, into the category of your beck and call/
She tried to warn me, that first night, She said that I’ll be coming back and she was right, no plans for love/”
“No Plans For Love” is D-Nice’s latest official offering since his sophomore LP To Tha Rescue, which was released via Jive Records a whopping thirty years ago. That project saw 12 tracks with additional features from KRS-One, Naughty By Nature, Too $hort, and E-Marvelous. A year prior, he dropped off his debut album Call Me D-Nice, a moderate commercial success that peaked at number 75 on the Billboard 200.
As previously reported by REVOLT, D-Nice revealed why he ended up doing his Instagram live sets during the quarantine in the first place, which seems to have been partly by accident:
“I was literally just playing music from my laptop… The next day I hooked up the turntables then I noticed the crowd started to grow. John Legend was in there. I called Dave Chappelle and he jumped in live. The next day J. Lo came, Drake arrived — then that Saturday party was everything. Everyone was there.”
