A man allegedly shot and killed three adults and one child after arguing with his girlfriend over her stimulus check.

On Sunday (March 14), Malik Halfacre was arrested for the fatal shootings which took place on Saturday (March 13). A day before the suspect allegedly killed Jeanettrius Moore’s family members, he confronted her about wanting half of her stimulus check. “He wanted some of Jeanettrius’ tax money, stimulus money,” cousin Wendy Johnson told WXIN. “She said, ‘No, you don’t deserve any of this. I work. I take care of our child. You don’t do anything.’” Moore only offered to give her boyfriend $450 and told him to “take it or leave it.”

The next day, Halfacre returned to the home and started going through Moore’s purse to find the money. Daquan Moore intervened and tried to help his sister, but that’s when the suspect started “killing everybody,” Johnson said.

The four victims have been identified as Moore’s 7-year-old daughter, Eve, her 23-year-old brother, Daquan Moore, her 44-year-old mother, Tomeeka Brown, and her 35-year-old cousin, Anthony Johnson.

“He shot Daquan first,” Johnson recalled. “He shot Anthony. He turned around, and he shot my auntie Tomeeka. My aunt Tomeeka said, ‘Malik!’ and he shot her again.” Moore was shot as well, but survived. She was able to escape and tell a neighbor about the shooting.

“I said, ‘Why did he shoot you?’” neighbor Craig Jackson said. “And her exact words were ‘stimulus money.’ … Her exact words were, ‘I am the only one who got away. He killed the rest of them.’ Those were her exact words.”

Halfacre then fled the home with his 6-month-old daughter, which triggered an Amber Alert for Indianapolis. The child was found unharmed on Sunday at his sister’s home. Authorities later found the suspect hiding in a friend’s attic.

Halfacre admitted to shooting all of the victims and said that after “everyone was shot, he took the money,” Moore’s purse and her car. He has been charged with murder, attempted murder and robbery. He is due back in court on March 18.
