Late last year, SZA unveiled a new single titled “Good Days,” a Los Hendrix, Nascent, and Carter Lang-produced cut that sees her focused on future goals over past errors:
“I try to keep from losin’ the rest of me, I worry that I wasted the best of me on you, babe, you don’t care, said, ‘Not tryna be a nuisance, this is urgent,’ tryna make sense of loose change, got me a war in my mind/
Gotta let go of weight, can’t keep what’s holdin’ me, choose to watch while the world break up in front of me…/”
Directed by SZA herself, the Top Dawg Entertainment songstress can be seen at one with the nature around her, dancing around Super Mario-esque mushrooms, a library, and other similar locations.
“Good Days” following another recent single titled “Hit Different” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, a first official release from the New Jersey star since her debut LP Ctrl. Released in 2017, Ctrl saw 14 cuts and additional appearances from Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, James Fauntleroy, and Isaiah Rashad. The project was a massive success for SZA, debuting on the Billboard 200 at number three thanks to 60,000 album equivalent units sold.
As reported by REVOLT last year, SZA gave her fans an update on a possible follow-up to Ctrl, revealing that she’s been in the studio with the likes of a certain *NSYNC alum:
“This next album is even more of me being less afraid … Before I was like, ‘What the f*ck am I doing in the studio with Justin Timberlake right now? This is crazy,’ … But when I heard his music and we started singing together… It’s like, ‘Oh, we speak the same language. The same frequency.’ I understood where he was going before he could finish a run.”
