Today has been a whirlwind — and it’s far from over. Trump supporters have stormed the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. in protest of Congress certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s general election victory, which was supposed to take place this afternoon. We’re still not sure about the fate of that process as of yet.
Since this chaos commenced, there has been countless amounts of video circulating on social media about the ordeal. Even Biden felt the need to speak out about the shocking events that were going down. “The scenes of chaos at the Capitol do not reflect true America, do not represent who we are. What we’re seeing is a small number of extremists dedicated to lawlessness,” he told Americans in a video. “This is not dissent, it’s disorder, it’s chaos, and it must end now.”
While bringing attention to Trump’s dangerous words that have given his supporters the green light to cause chaos and destruction in previous protests, Biden added: “The words of a president matter, no matter how good or bad that president is. At their best, the words of a president can inspire. At their worst, it can incite. Therefore, I call on President Trump to go on national television now to fulfill his oath, and defend the Constitution and demand an end to this siege.”
Trump’s supporters know that not only is the current president on their side, but so is law enforcement. In some of the many videos of the Capitol catastrophe, we see footage of police not only removing barricades around the building to let them enter, but once the Trump supporters are inside, we see cops actually posing to take selfies with them.
Unbelievable, huh? Well, take a look below and see this for yourself.
We wonder what the outcome would have been if Black people were the ones who were storming the Capitol. Inquiring minds would like to know.
