K Camp sets the tone for his new year as he maintains his consistency with his loose freestyles. His newest offering is “Don’t Drink Dasani,” which arrived as a visual (he confirmed he’ll put the track officially on DSP’s if there are enough shares). On his opening verse, he let’s fans know the reasoning behind the freestyle’s title:
She call me Machiaveli. She want some action she gon’ hit me on the celly. Drunker than a bitch she tryna pump me, no hesi. All these boys be poppin’ but we did this shit already. She don’t drink Dasani, she boujee but that bitch get ratchet.
Back in November, K Camp dropped off his “Genuine Love (Freestyle)” to hold fans over until the release of the deluxe version of his KISS 5 project, which includes six additional tracks and a new feature from Sevyn Streeter. KISS 5 is the final installment of his series and included features from Ari Lennox, Jeremih, Yella Beezy, Yung Bleu, Wale, 6lack, and more. In July, K Camp released RARE Family as a follow up project to keep the momentum going. From the project, Camp has dropped off a visual for his collab song with Jacquees on the project titled “What’s On Your Mind” and also for “Top 10” featuring Yella Beezy. He also linked with Rubi Rose for her single “Pogo” and tapped in with True Story Gee on the singles “Big Dawg Status” and “Racks” this year.
In an interview with REVOLT from earlier this year, K Camp delved into how he’s satisfied with his Kiss series:
I just felt like, you know, I’ve been doing the Kiss series for about 10 years — since 2011. So, I think I did my time and did good with this project. With the fifth one, I put some features on there, I was satisfied, the music sounded good, the production sounded good, and I just wanted to end it on a good note.
