Today, Uncle Murda marked the new year by releasing the third installment of his Don’t Come Outside mixtape series, which sees 12 cuts and additional appearances from Mysonne, Lil Tjay, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Que Banz, and more. The biggest standout from the new project is “Rap Up 2020,” Uncle Murda’s yearly recap of the year in hip hop and beyond. Produced by Great John, the New York veteran turns his subject matter inward, reflecting on his and his family’s life in the midst of COVID-19 and other struggles — including the shocking loss of one of the world’s greatest athletes of all time:
“I’m a fan, heavenly father, but right now I’m booing you, what did Kobe, Gigi, and them other passengers do to you, my condolences at this time is all that I could offer, Kobe got me out here spending more time with my daughter/
Taking Kobe from us had the whole world stressed, you could’ve took an average player and not one of the best…/”
In addition to the more reflective bits, Uncle Murda also takes aim at certain peers who have made news headlines throughout 2020 for more than music — including Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez, 6ix9ine, Funkmaster Flex, Boosie Badazz, and even Jeezy — who found himself on the receiving end of some of Gucci Mane’s more stinging barbs during their “Verzuz” battle.
At about this time last year, Uncle Murda released Don’t Come Outside, Vol. 2, which saw 12 tracks and features from many of the aforementioned artists, alongside Dave East, Derez De’Shon, Jadakiss, and Styles P. The first installment of Don’t Come Outside was released in 2017.
