Ashanti is giving her fans an update on her health after she announced that she had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month.
The “Rock With U (Awww Baby)” singer took to Instagram on Thursday (Dec. 24) to thank her fans for their prayers. “Hey y’all. Just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers,” she captioned a photo of herself smiling. “I’ve gotten so many calls, texts, emails and DMs checking in on me and my family and I’m super grateful for that. I’m feeling much better.”
She also shared an update on her parents, who were sick as well.
She continued, “Thanking God that my mom is out of the hospital and my dad is doing well. Needless to say, this will be a very different Christmas.. but still filled with gratitude and love. Thanks Bink for dropping off the herbal teas. Merry Christmas Eve.”
The day Ashanti was set to battle it out against Keyshia Cole in a Verzuz battle, she announced that she had contracted Coronavirus. “Hey y’all. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I tested positive for COVID-19,” the former Murder Inc. singer posted to Instagram on Dec. 12. “I’m OK and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the Verzuz from my house…we’re trying to figure it out.”
Fans were disappointed by the news, but the battle was ultimately rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 9, according to the official social media accounts for Verzuz. After announcing the postponement of the battle, they warned viewers to take the pandemic seriously. “We apologize to our incredible audience!” Verzuz wrote. “Get well soon, Ashanti. Wear a mask, stay inside and take COVID-19 seriously. It’s truly affecting our community.”
We are continuing to wish Ashanti and her family a speedy recovery. Check out her post below.
