Back in May, Ace Hood released his fifth studio album Mr. Hood, which saw 14 tracks and additional appearances from Slim Diesel, Alexdynamix, OZ, and Jacquees. This week, the Floridian emcee unveils a new visual for the album closer “Popovitch,” which gives the type of positive-minded bars we all definitely need right now:
“Waking up today, giving thanks, hit the knee and pray, I go state to state making plays for that paper play, I must keep it pure and then secure whatever’s meant for me, fed me to the wolves and I survived and now it’s hell to pay/
I can feel me rising up, pressure brought this diamond up, this like perfect timing, huh, they are way too fond of us, blessing got the lining up, divine until my timing up, I’m climbing up, you won’t see me folding up…/”
The video comes courtesy of Alex Heider and begins with Ace Hood sitting down with one of his fellow men, who reveals that he’s having anxieties and doubts about his upcoming basketball season. After giving him some powerful advice, the two get to work, performing various exercises in between Hood’s own performance shots. The former We The Best artist has also been known for his incredibly inspirational cuts, and this one sees him at his absolute best.
Given his music’s subject matter, it was important for Ace Hood to find his overall purpose in life, something that he further explained in an interview with REVOLT:
“Over time, I started doing everything outside of music to find happiness and find a place for myself. Once I was able to arrive back to the music, it made a lot more sense and the stories are a lot more powerful and a lot more truthful.”
