After dropping off his Everything Starts from Now project back in May, the DMV’s very own Matt McGhee has brought forth his new music video for “End of the Earth” featuring Mannywellz. The visual positions Matt McGhee as a triple threat talent, showing the PG County emcee not only rapping over a beat he produced himself, but now displaying his acting chops as well. Co-directed by JPulchritude and Matt, the video draws inspiration from the hit series Top Boy, as the plot unfolds while the opening verse sets the tone about his relationship:
“My brownskin, pretty lady, melanin queen. Pull up together, made a hell of a scene. Have a hell of a night. Died in your eyes, I saw heaven tonight, hell of a light. Your waistline what I’m grippin’ on, jewels shinin’ on the skin you got it sittin’ on, matchin’ what I’m sippin’ on. Hope none of my feeling’s wrong. You’re the only one I’m wantin’ when I’m feelin’ grown, me is what I put it on.”
Matt takes on the role of the protagonist Dushane from the popular British crime series, as the video plays out to display the ultimate test to prove he’s willing to do anything to protect the ones he loves. The new visual also treats listeners by revealing a brand new verse that wasn’t originally included in the album. Equipped with 12 songs in total, his Everything Starts from Now project made landfall back in May of this year, with “End Of The Earth” serving as its lead single and fan favorite.
Providing the assist on the song’s hook is fellow DMV artist Mannywellz. This year saw the release of his Mirage project earlier in October, which included seven tracks and boasted guest appearances from VanJess and Tems. Mannywellz can also be heard on Wale’s 2019 project Wow… That’s Crazy on the song “Love & Loyalty,” and more recently on “No Drama” off Sun-El Musician’s December release To the World & Beyond.
