It’s been more than a year since Melii delivered her debut album phAses, which boasted 14 tracks and additional features from Tory Lanez, Odalys, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. 2019 also saw an EP from the New York multi-talent titled MOTIONS, further adding to the rising star’s catalog of top quality cuts. For her latest, Melii teams up with Atlanta artist 6LACK for “You Ain’t Worth It,” an ode to any who are ready to leave their toxic relationships:
“You just wanna sex and party all these bitches up, but baby I done had enough, ain’t care for diamonds or the club, just wanted all your love, see the more I piece up stories, ain’t no addin’ up/
Guess you fooled me, thought you wouldn’t be on cruel shit, had to check myself for puttin’ up with bullshit…/”
Recently, Melii also released a single titled “Way Too Soft,” a sign that fans will be hearing more of her from a hip hop perspective. That song also saw an accompanying visual that depicted her and her girls dispatching a group of Scarface-type gangsters.
In a past interview with REVOLT, Melii spoke on staying positive, something that’s needed more than ever this year:
“If you live real lifestyle, you’re true to yourself. It just goes smoother, you feel me? Because when you’re living to other people’s expectations or you’re trying to do things for others, you’re not living for yourself. Even when things go wrong and you feel like you failed, but you didn’t fail. You failed because you’re expecting other people to see these goals that you accomplished. But, in reality, it’s up to you to just live life.”
