Christmas is just around the corner, and just recently Sabrina Claudio has joined the ongoing list of artists gifting their fans with holiday albums. To ring in the festive project, the songstress released the title track from the album “Christmas Blues” featuring The Weeknd. On the sultry single, the two sing about a lost love ahead of Christmas Day:
‘Cause if I didn’t have you when the snow is fallin’ on that winter mornin’, I’d have Christmas blues. If I didn’t have you (If I didn’t have you), when everyone’s unwrappin’, no matter what I open, I’d have Christmas blues. If I didn’t have you (If I didn’t have you) Oh, oh (If I didn’t have you), if I didn’t have you, I’d have Christmas blues.
Although this is the first official music collab between the two artists, Sabrina Claudio was slated to be the opening act for The Weeknd’s 2020 tour, which ultimately was postponed amidst the global pandemic. The new holiday project follows Sabrina’s 2019 release Truth Is. Prior to that was her eight-track project in 2018 titled No Rain, No Flowers, which was a follow up to her 2017 debut project About Time. The debut boasts her successful single “Belong To You” featuring 6lack.
In an interview from this year, Sabrina opened up about her most emotional moment when it came to her songwriting:
The most difficult song I’ve written has been “Messages From Her” and it still gets me emotional when performing. This one, in particular, is quite special due to the amount of vulnerability I wasn’t afraid to feel when writing it. I guess when I say “I don’t write from personal experience”, I’m usually referring to songs I write about love or relationships. Messages is a conversation between my younger self and I and it’s an incredibly emotional conversation at that.
