Joe Biden is set to become the United States of America’s oldest president in its history on Inauguration Day; January 20, 2021. Unfortunately, with old age comes a higher risk of obtaining injury.

On Sunday (Nov. 29), the president-elect’s doctor told CNN that he sprained one of his feet while playing with one of his rescue dogs named Major. The medical professional came to this conclusion after X-rays were performed. Apparently, Biden slipped while having some fun with his pet. Thankfully, the injury — although we’re sure is very painful — doesn’t seem too serious.

“President-elect Joe Biden sustained a sprain of his right foot. Initial X-rays are reassuring that there is no obvious fracture and he will be getting an additional CT for more detailed imaging,” Dr. Kevin O’Connor revealed to the news outlet.

Earlier today, Biden’s office issued a statement he was going to seek care from an orthopedist “out of an abundance of caution” after he fell and twisted his ankle.

“During the campaign, the Biden campaign released a summary of Biden’s medical history, which showed the former vice president was healthy and fit for the presidency,” CNN reads.

“The release included the results of a physical exam by Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s primary care doctor since 2009 and the director of executive medicine at The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates.”

At the time, the doctor also affirmed that Biden is “a healthy, vigorous, 77-year-old male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency.”

Biden celebrated his 78th birthday just last week — on Friday Nov. 20 to be exact.

Aside from Major, the president-elect also have a second dog named Champ. Both of his pets are German Shepherds.

While he’s already made history in a number of ways this election season by becoming the oldest president-elect, the first Democratic presidential candidate to win Georgia in 28 years, and obtaining the highest number of popular votes in America history, Biden will also be the first president to have rescue dogs in the White House.
