Cardi B has issued an apology after she took to social media to celebrate having a large gathering of family and friends for Thanksgiving — although the world is still in the middle of a pandemic.

“Twelve kids and 25 adults over the holidays. It was lit,” the Invasion of Privacy rapper tweeted. The comment sparked backlash from people who were upset that they could not be with their family and friends because of the growing number of Coronavirus cases in the United States.

“Sorry. My bad. Wasn’t trying to make nobody feel bad,” she replied to a now-deleted tweet of a fan calling out her actions. “I just had my family in my home for the first time and it felt so good & uplifted me. I spent soo much money getting every1 tested, but it felt worth it. I wasn’t trying to offend no1.”

In a follow-up tweet, Cardi says she took the proper precautions to ensure everyone was safe during the holidays, including herself. “ME specially and everyone that works around me get tested literally 4 times a week,” she tweeted. “I’m In the middle of work and Everytime we clock in we MUST GET TESTED!”

There were mixed reviews to The Bronx emcee’s large event. “Bragging about your large gathering during a pandemic to your millions of impressionable fans who do not have the money that you have to get rapid tests is irresponsible,” tweeted @Sophia_Galanis.

Twitter user @Ana_C2718 wrote in defense of the “WAP” star. “People are so annoying. She bought the test out of her own pocket, it wasn’t given for free. She was being safe & was able to have her loved ones. People act like if they had the chance of doing the same thing they wouldn’t do it.”
