Aside from being the mastermind behind the boards of some of your favorite hits, Pi’erre Bourne has been carving a lane for himself as a talented emcee as well. The Queens by-way-of South Carolina artist dropped off his project earlier this year, but just recently delivered a video for one of the cuts, the bouncy “Be Mine” track where he flows effortlessly over his own beat:
“Not used to buyin’ the whole thing. Tag around the world like I paint. Know your type like font names. Fallin’ back like time change. Secure the game, yeah, crime pays. Get dollar signs, I don’t bang. Got a million in my bank. Family call me wantin’ things. She think I don’t care no more. But look how much her mind changed. I just flew you out to me. Baby, these are my wings. Love my bitch, don’t expect a thing.”
“Be Mine” is the fourth song on The Life Of Pi’erre 4 and is often referred to as “Migraine” by his longtime fans. The project dropped back in 2019, but he unleashed the deluxe version in June of this year, with the lengthy project holding 31 songs total. According to Genius, “Be Mine” was previewed on his Instagram live around October 2018, where most of the other TLOP 4 songs where revealed and teased.
In a recent interview, Pi’erre gets candid about how fans’ opinions used to get to him, and how he’s improving:
The Instagram comments, Twitter, the trolling, all that stuff used to really get to me, as far as my anxiety. I never understood it. Then I talked to my mom about it one time and she was just like, “Yeah, that’s your anxiety.” I’m like, “What?” I started laughing. I never thought I would have a problem like that, but that’s just what comes with fame, I guess. You have to be neutral or immune to all of the hate and the criticism. Sometimes it’s good. Sometimes you get positive feedback, but you can’t let it consume you and eat you up.
