The hip hop and R&B world got a shock on Saturday (Nov. 14) morning when super-producer and music executive Hitmaka shared on his Instagram that recording artist Jeremih could use prayers and positive vibes sent his way.
“I need everyone to pray for my brother @jeremih. This message is posted with his mother’s blessings,” the producer formerly known as Yung Berg said in a post. He followed up this message with notes on his IG stories that read, “My dawg changed my life. He gone pull thru. Pray for @jeremih” and “We need that energy [prayer emoji]… Pray for my brother. He gone shake back @jeremih.”
Hitmaka didn’t elaborate on Jeremih’s condition any further after these messages. However, 50 Cent did later reveal exactly what the concern surrounding the singer was. On his personal IG, Fif captioned a photo of himself and Jeremih, “Pray for my boy @jeremih he’s not doing good this covid shit is real 🙏🏿 he’s in ICU in Chicago.” 50 tweeted this note, as well.

Fellow Chicago artist Chance The Rapper also asked for prayers for Jeremih on Twitter. “Please if you can take a second to pray for my friend Jeremih, he is like a brother to me and he’s ill right now,” the Coloring Book artist said. “I believe in the healing power of Jesus so if you can for me please please say a prayer over him.”

Since its spread throughout the United States at the beginning of the year, Coronavirus has disproportionately affected Black and brown people, who have been the most at-risk of suffering more severe symptoms than their white counterparts.
Fellow R&B singer Trey Songz was diagnosed with Coronavirus a few weeks back, as well as rapper Scarface some months ago, and many more. We’re hoping that Jeremih pulls through.
