DJ Scheme has rallied up a solid line up of talent to bring forth his first official single from his upcoming debut project FAMILY. The new “Soda” track is co-produced by DJ Scheme and producer duo Take A DayTrip and features Cordae and Ski Mask the Slump God trading bars. On the song, Ski Mask comes through with his high-paced verse:
Don’t even gotta finish my sentence, they feelin’ my presence. Like a navy but your closed eyelids, feelin’ like a menace to Society, I’m Dennis The Menace without sobriety. Hold my beer (Oh my), ayy, listen here. To make that kind of money, you gon’ need to wish upon a fairy godmother tear, it’s a tear. I ain’t talkin’ Rudolph, I’m makin’ it rain, dear. Soundin’ like I’m Naruto, talkin’ about pain here. She jackin’ my beanstalk, get that? Golden Goose, had to get your bitch back.
Take A Daytrip has been responsible for many well-loved hits, such as “Panini” By Lil Nas X, and even linked up earlier this year with Octavian, Obongjayar and Cruel Santino for the “Poison” single. Ski Mask The Slump God dropped off his “Burn The Hoods” single this year, and Cordae can most recently be heard spitting a reflective feature alongside a few OG’s on Dinner Party’s “Freeze Tag” track.
In a previous interview, Cordae delves a bit into what influenced him musically growing up:
“The way I grew up influenced my music because I lived in a trailer park in South Carolina. Then I was in the trenches in Maryland, near DC, where there was a lot of guns, and I also lived in the suburbs too. Living out those three different socio-economic lifestyles means I’ve witnessed a lot of things and f**ked with different people from all different walks of life. I think this means I can appeal to everybody and that’s what I want to do.”
